Late, Oba Alade Buari Oloto of Oto. Lagos, Nigeria

Oba Oloto popularly known as Omo Abule Sowo. It was widely acclaimed, that his family owned a substantial portion of the land in and around Otto, Idumota, Ijora, Oyingbo, Itire and Aguda areas of Lagos State.

Oba Alade Oloto was installed the first Igurra of Aguda land, in Surulere area of Lagos State. He had tried unsuccessfully to be crowned the Oba of Otto Kingdom,in Ebute Metta area of the State earlier. He was related to Idumota, Oyingbo, Ebute Metta, Otto, Aguda, and Itire all in Lagos metropolis.

Formerly, Balogun of Itire Kingdom before the elevation to a full fledged Oba in September, 2020.

A socialite per excellence. He bossed the social circles of Lagos State, Nigeria for a better part of a half century. He was celebrated with songs by all major musicians in the country. But particular of interest was his cosy relationship with the late Fuji Superstar, Dr. Sikiru Ayinde Barrister. He was a major financial backbone and mentor of the late multi talented musician. And the musician reciprocated in equal measure. He sang his praises to high heavens in virtually all his recorded vinyl’s. Singing Oloto’s praises did not became monotonous simply because of the talent of the Fuji Lord. He simply adapted and readapted his praises to different styles. Sadly, the social bug pushing Oloto started waning few years ago, particularly, soon after his installation as the Oba. The news of his death suddenly hit the news waves early afternoon last week’s Thursday, July 28.

His memory will remain with many for long due to the plethora of musical records waxed in his honour by various musicians, like King Sunny Ade, Ahuja Bello, Kollington Ayinla, KI and most importantly, Aare Sikiru Ayinde Barrister, who never seemed tired or bored of singing his praises.
