Friday 14 November saw the grand launch of the CLF Art Lounge Pop Up at Mountview, Peckham, and it was nothing short of a sonic celebration. From 8pm until the early hours, the venue pulsed with energy as music lovers gathered to mark this new chapter in South London’s cultural scene.
The night’s centrepiece was Marque Gilmore, the internationally renowned Acousti-Lectric drummer known as Inna-Most. With a career spanning over three decades, Gilmore’s pioneering rhythms and futuristic “Science-Friction-Drum-and-Space” style lit up the room, reminding everyone why he remains an icon of underground innovation.
Sharing the spotlight was Shelley Nicole, a powerhouse vocalist, songwriter and composer whose artistry blends healing, love and uncompromising soul. Her performance, rich with emotion and resonance, perfectly complemented Gilmore’s percussive mastery. Together, the duo channelled their long-standing collaboration from New York’s Burnt Sugar The Arkestra Chamber, bringing a transatlantic energy that felt both fresh and timeless. Guiding the flow was Jazzheadchronic, host of the South London Soul Train, whose
infectious presence ensured the night stayed true to its promise: celebrating music of Black origin, past and present, with soul at its core. Among the audience were Akintokunbo Adejumo, Mrs Toyin Adejumo, Segun Fajemisin, and Kayode Samuel, who joined fellow patrons in soaking up the atmosphere.
The launch was more than an event — it was a statement of intent. The CLF Art Lounge Pop Up has arrived, and if this night was anything to go by, it’s set to become a beacon for live music in Peckham.
